Parents may reach informal agreements regarding many aspects of raising their children, but an informal agreement does not, by itself, necessarily modify a court-ordered child support obligation.
If the amount of child support needs to change, the appropriate legal process should generally be followed so that the court’s order reflects the new obligation.
