Associate Attorney

Sarah Cary was born and raised in Plano, Texas. She graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas and went on to earn her J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas. During law school, Sarah participated in several student organizations, and oversaw an organization called P.L.A.Y., Presenting Legal Activities to Youth. By the time she graduated from law school, she obtained over 1600 pro bono hours, receiving the Equal Justice Award for the entire graduating class. Sarah served on the Texas A&M University School of Law’s Alumni Board of Directors for six years, including serving on the inaugural Alumni Awards Committee Board.

Sarah started her legal career at the Collin County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney in the Family Justice Division, specifically the CPS section, working in family law. She worked to help families during difficult times by protecting children and assisting in reuniting families, if possible. “There is nothing better than uniting a family after a tough time”, she says. After 7 years with the Collin County District Attorney’s Office, Sarah began working at another family law firm in Denton helping families through high asset, high conflict divorces and custody cases. Now, she brings her knowledge and experience to Lewis, Passons, & Darnell, P.C.

Sarah has an in-depth understanding of how trauma and change have an effect on children and uses this knowledge to assist families in family law matters. As the mother of a child with special needs, Sarah’s life experience inspires her to be a passionate advocate for parents dealing with those issues. Her goal is to work with families to get through a difficult time and give them peace, but she isn’t afraid to fight the tough fight and is a formidable courtroom advocate.

Sarah has been married to her husband, Justin, for 15 years. They have two children, Jack and Chloe. In her free time, Sarah is a fitness instructor and promotes exercise to maintain good mental and overall health.
